Autenrieth

Next is from wikipedia:

Each convertible from Autenrieth was handcrafted specially for the wishes of the customers. So this one has double chrom stripes (the lower one is original and the upper one was added by Autenrieth) and extra fins topped on the rear fenders.

Here you can see that the fins are just topped on - it´s not the original P1 design and in my opinion it´s nothing that adds dignity to the wonderfull original P1 look.. You can find wonderfull fins on US-cars of the 50th but in my eyes the P1 just seems to look better without them. Back to the facts: The baseprice in 1959 was 11.180,-- DM! This was nearly 200% of the closed version. - Admin (pinkadmin)

Another convertible is owned by Hilmar Born, Herne. I was told that it was driven with the licenseplate "E-CN 4" by the dougther of the former owner.

No pictures of this one, too.
Update: I talked with Mr. Born who has an Opel Museum. This convertible is white with red interior. It has the double chrom molding but not the fins. It has many miles on the odometer and 3rd engine installed and is still in good driver quality. It was a realy family car through all the years and after the death of the owner it is gone to the museum of Mr. Born who will keep it in that condition it is now.

Mr. Born is not using the internet and therefor he can not share pictures with us.

"HU-H 999" has the double chrom molding and the add on fins. Those fins were optional equipment.
The P1 convertible that my father owns is done by autenrieth with leather bucket seats but it hasn't the fins nor the double chrom molding.

Does anybody know about these gadgets for sure? - Admin (pinkadmin)

"HU-H 999" is one of the rare Opel P1 Coupes that were handcrafted by Autenrieht. I was told by Mr. Born that 3 were build and 2 survivors are known. Owner of both survivors is Mr. Reiss. One is nearly restored. One is not in driving condition (parts car? or restoration undergoing?) - Admin (pinkadmin)

Are there any more known survivors? Please send infos and pictures to complete this Opel P1 Convertible roster.

I have been told that there is one convertible in Hamburg undergoing a restoration for several years now.
Owner is Mr. Thomas von Kleinburg(?). My father told me he has seen a yellow P1 convertible many years ago in Hamburg - perhaps this is the same car?!? There are no pictures available from this one. - Admin (pinkadmin)

"K-TJ 888" found at Alt-Opel Meeting in 2004. This is a reproduction convertible and not a original Autenrieth convertible. Is doesn't have the longer doors for example. I hope the owner "Thomas Riese" can tell us more about his car and send in some photos of the car and the conversation. - Admin (pinkadmin)
